We purchased this chair so I could participate in family walks again. it is an amazing bit of kit. I could easily propel on compacted gravel driveways and grass footpaths. Easy for family to assist on hills too. Great to look at and very easy to use

This wheelchair was a replacement for the one we got for myself following a fall at work. A broken heal was the result. At first they said I would be up & running three to four months so a used wheelchair seemed a good option. Then at the beginning of the fourth month, they told me that it was now life changing! After a year I still cannot walk very far even though I use crutches. The wheelchair needed to be replaced. With time on my hands, home work on which type, weight, folded size etc. The feedback on different chairs. Having test rides along the way was fun & educational to. It came down to two after my budget was set. Both Excel, G Light & G Explorer. After some more homework on the merits of solid v pneumatic tyres, indoors/outside I made my decision. G Explorer. As I don't use it in the house & the ride when going across block paving, car parks & the like pneumatic tyres was the way to go. I did use it for about a week or so in our home. After reading feedback saying that it was difficult to move around due to the tyres being 'mountain bike' type & that outdoors the extra rolling resistance make it slower! In my humble opinion both are wrong.Indoors, it was much easier to move around than my old chair. Outside it's like floating over block paving & the like. Being only 11.5kg without footrests makes lifting it into & out of our car a breeze for my wife to.I find the seat 18" wide very comfortable. The armrests drop down out of the way making it much easier to propell yourself & when you need them, up they come. Even in this model, the hight when the backrest is folded down is lower than most. The width is slightly more than ones with solid tyres. Worth taking into consideration if it's to be used both inside & outside. Our house was built in the late 80's so doors are narrower than modern so going from one room to another was out of the question. Twenty five millimetres stopping it!The only thing that I would say is a negative are the breaks. Don't get me wrong they work great when stationery. Probably better than on solid tyres as you don't get 'flat spots' when left on for a few days. It's the slowing down using them. As the tyres are knobbly by nature this has the affect of juddering when you apply them. I'm still getting my head around the fact that I am disabled to a point that I have a need for a wheelchair & all that goes with it. Having this has really helped me, easier to use than my last one & in black, apart from a bit of orange 'stealthish' as well. The customer service from'lightweight-wheelchairs' is exceptional. I emailed with a question about this chair & the reply was within 30 minutes.I went on to purchase it from them as well. The delivery was not within the time scale quoted. That said, they kept me informed as when it would be.Would I go for this wheelchair again, YESWould I use this company again, YESThey say the proof is in the pudding, I have ordered an 'elevated footrest' for my 'wheeles' as my wife calls it. Can't wait to get out & about, this chair for me at least is a godsend that gets me out of our home.

As this is my very first wheelchair, I wasn't sure what to expect, but having used it for the first time last weekend, we found it so easy to use and to dismantle to fit into our car. Extremely happy with this and highly recommend it.
